iciHaiti - Security : 4th closing conference of the Sectoral Table on Security 30/07/2025 11:21:54
Themed "National and International Security Forces in Haiti : Challenges and Prospects", this initiative, led by the Center for Analysis and Research in Human Rights (CARDH) with the support of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), provides a framework for strategic dialogue bringing together state institutions responsible for security, representatives of human rights organizations, and civil society actors. This session brought together several representatives from civil society, the judicial sector, human rights, and prominent figures, including :
In his remarks, Gédéon Jean, Executive Director of CARDH, emphasized the importance of strengthening the capacities of the Haitian security forces and the Multinational Mission, which are essential to restoring a climate of lasting peace. He also discussed the possibility of increased support from the Organization of American States (OAS) in the security sector, in support of national authorities. A report summarizing the four conferences and five meetings of the Sectoral Table on Security will be presented shortly and shared with the public and authorities. IH/ iciHaiti
