In this painful circumstance, the Chancellery of the diocese presents its strongest sympathies for the Conference of Bishops of Haiti (CEH), the presbyterium of the Diocese of Jérémie, religious working in said diocese, seminarians and secular faithful of the diocese, and particularly to the members of the family of our dear. The Catholic community of Jérémie, as well as the whole population of Grand’Anse, is in mourning. Mgr. Joseph Willy Romélus, bishop emeritus of the diocese, leaves behind a spiritual and human heritage of invaluable value. He had led the diocese of Jérémie for more than three decades. He distinguished himself by his actions to improve access to school and to care in the region. Mass of Bishop's funeral or funeral. Joseph Willy Romélus, will be celebrated on Thursday August 21, 2025 at 9:00 am at the Notre-Dame sanctuary of the miraculous Jérémie medal. A funeral vigil will be organized on Wednesday August 20, 2025 at 6:00 pm P.M. in the Cathedral of Saint Louis de Jérémie. Mgr. Romélus will be buried in Jérémie, in accordance with his last wishes.
