iciHaiti - Cap-Haitien : 355th Anniversary Celebration and Patronal Feast
The celebration of the 355th anniversary of the founding of the city of Cap-Haitien coincided this year with the patronal feast of Our Lady of the Assumption. The celebrations were marked by a solemn "Te Deum" mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, followed by an official ceremony in the Town Hall Hall, attended by local authorities and representatives of the department's various institutions.

In her speech, Mayor Yvrose Pierre recalled : "Cap-Haitien is today the main gateway to and from the country. Our airport and roads see thousands of people pass through every day. We are also the host city for thousands of internally displaced persons, as well as for our compatriots repatriated from the Dominican Republic and the United States. This demographic pressure exacerbates the already immense challenges facing the city."

Cap-Haitien, beyond its environmental problems, has become a refuge for populations fleeing the insecurity of Port-au-Prince and the Artibonite. This situation requires a coordinated response between the central government, relevant ministries, departmental directorates, and civil society."

This celebration reaffirms the pride and civic responsibility of all Cap-Haitien residents and underscores the Municipality's commitment to promoting a vibrant, safe, and united city, faithful to its rich historical heritage.
