Paul Antoine Bien-Aimé, Minister of the Interior and Local Authorities, accompanied by Pierre Canisius Guignard, Director General of the Ministry, took part in the special day organized by the Thomazeau Town Hall, under the theme "Thomazeau Renaissance" to mark the 199th anniversary of the founding of this commune in the West department, located in the Croix-des-Bouquets district.

This event was dedicated to the community's resilience, particularly in the face of violence from armed groups.

Ms. Josette Cyprien, Mayor of the commune and President of the Municipal Council, praised the struggle and the ability of the municipality and the entire community to recover, face various challenges, and, above all, move forward. She took the opportunity to salute the strength and determination, particularly of the local youth, who strive for excellence. She also invited the people of Thomazeau to become more involved in writing the next chapters of Thomazeau's history together, with a focus on hope and rebirth.

Minister Paul Antoine Bien-Aimé highlighted the support of the State, and the Ministry of the Interior in particular, in strengthening the administrative and financial capacity of the Municipality of Thomazeau. The Minister also committed to improving collaboration with the Haitian National Police (PNH) to enable local residents to live in peace, security, and serenity, concluding, "The Ministry of the Interior and Local Authorities will continue to support local economic initiatives and development projects that will enable Thomazeau to prosper."

This activity was an opportunity to showcase typical Thomazeau products and also to honor its sons and daughters who distinguished themselves throughout the year. The morning concluded with the presentation of plaques, medals, and awards, including to the commune's winners in official exams, to young athletes for their participation in the U-17 championship, to school principals, as well as to several notables and families for their commitment to the life and development of the commune. The Minister and the Director General of the Ministry were also honored for their commitment to the commune and their contribution to strengthening local authorities in general.
