On Friday, September 19, 2025, the Consul General of France in Florida, Raphaël Trapp, paid a courtesy visit to the Consulate General of Haiti in Miami.

This meeting provided an opportunity to discuss topics of mutual interest, including migration issues and the dynamics specific to the Haitian and French communities in Florida, both linked by the French language and a shared cultural heritage.

Following the exchange, Trapp discovered the exhibition dedicated to Haitian writer René Depestre, organized by the Consulate as part of the commemoration of the centennial of the famous poet's birth. This cultural event highlighted the major contribution of Haitian literature to the French-speaking landscape.

The French diplomat expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome he received and praised the richness, vibrancy, and depth of Haitian culture.

Although he has not yet had the opportunity to visit Haiti, he emphasized the strength of the historical bond between the two countries, marked by both painful episodes and an indelible shared memory.
