iciHaiti - Environment : Official handover of the Mouchinette site
After several years of advocacy and efforts initiated by the former municipal administration of Cap-Haitien, the solid waste management project is now entering its active phase with the new municipal administration and the concerted mobilization of partner institutions.

To this end, the official handover of the Mouchinette site took place in the presence of the Technical Execution Unit (UTE) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Propublic SAM, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the Cilpen Global Business S.R.L – Kuky Silverio consortium.

For Patrick Almonor, Deputy Mayor of Cap-Haitien and Chairman of the Board of Propublic SAM, this milestone marks a decisive turning point. "This is a major step toward a sustainable waste management solution for the municipality of Cap-Haïtien." This project, which benefits from the support of the IDB and the commitment of the Haitian government, paves the way for better waste management, a healthier environment, and a more resilient city.

It should be noted that the Dominican firm Cilpen won an international tender to design, build, operate, and maintain the Integrated Solid Waste Management Center (CGIDS) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-45693-haiti-environment-dominicans-to-build-haiti-s-first-solid-waste-management-center.html

The rigorous implementation and monitoring of this phase will be crucial to the success of the entire GDSNH program and could inspire other municipalities and departments to adopt integrated solid waste management systems.
