iciHaiti - Back to school : Message from Laurent Saint-Cyr (CPT)
As part of the 2025-2026 school year, Laurent Saint-Cyr, President pro tempore and Coordinator of the Transition Council, sent a message to students, parents, and teachers, which we reproduce in full.

Message from Laurent Saint-Cyr :

“Dear students, dear parents, dear teachers,

I extend my warmest wishes for this new academic year. The start of the school year is a time of renewal : it is the moment when each student embarks on the path to knowledge, when each teacher joyfully and proudly returns to the mission of teaching, and when each parent sees their children's future taking shape step by step.

School is one of the essential links in life. The moments spent at school are among the most beautiful memories. They are years of friendship, discovery, effort, and transformation. Cherish them!

I pay tribute to our teachers : your patience, your passion, and your commitment shape our youth. To the students, I say : dare to dream big, dare to ask questions, and always cultivate a thirst for learning. To parents and families, I repeat : continue to support your children, because every word of encouragement and every gesture of love counts for their success.

In this new school year, I have a special thought for displaced or disadvantaged children, sometimes deprived of their schooling by violence or hardship. No child must be left behind. Education is a fundamental right and a national priority.

It is by thinking of you, and especially of our youth, that I find the strength to fight for the success of the priority projects of the transition. Their completion must give every young Haitian woman and man the right to hope, to study without fear, to work with dignity, and to build their future here, at home, in Haiti.

I reaffirm my commitment, alongside my colleagues in the CPT and the Government, to work tirelessly to restore security. It is imperative that every child has access to education, that every teacher can teach with peace of mind, and that every student can fully develop.

I send a clear message : children must stay in school. Places of learning are sacred, inviolable, and must be protected from all forms of violence. It is there that the destiny of our youth is built and, through them, that of the entire nation.

May this new school year mark a decisive step towards a stronger, more dignified, and brighter future for Haiti.

Long live school, long live youth, long live Haiti ! Happy school year !"
