On Friday, October 10, 2025, Vladimir Paraison, Acting Commander-in-Chief of the Haitian National Police (PNH), received a courtesy visit from a large Colombian delegation led by Vilma Velásquez, Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to Haiti.

The discussions focused on key areas of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of training and professional capacity building for PNH officers.

In this context, the two parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening institutional ties between the police training schools of the two countries. To this end, it was agreed that several Haitian police officers will benefit from a specialized training program in Colombia, starting in November 2025.

This training, financially supported by the Colombian Presidency through the International Cooperation Agency (APC-Colombia), is part of a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening the technical and operational skills of the National Police (PNH), both in the fight against crime and in maintaining public order.

In short, this approach illustrates the shared desire of Haiti and Colombia to promote effective cooperation and jointly build stronger regional security, based on the exchange of expertise and institutional solidarity.
