On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the Villa d'Accueil, Presidential Transition Advisors Fritz Alphonse Jean and Frinel Joseph met with a delegation from Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF-Haiti). This meeting focused primarily on the announcement of the permanent closure of the Emergency and Referral Center located on Charles Summer Avenue in Turgeau.

MSF plans to cease operations at this center as of November 1st, 2025, due to the worrying rise in insecurity in downtown Port-au-Prince, as the site is increasingly exposed to stray bullets and serious incidents endangering patients and medical staff.

MSF, however, reaffirms its commitment alongside the Ministry of Health to continue providing quality care to the residents of Port-au-Prince. Assessment missions will soon be deployed to identify the most urgent health needs and plan for the resumption of activities in an area as close to the city center as possible.
