iciHaiti - Cuba : Project to build a National Oncology Institute

On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, Presidential Advisor Leslie Voltaire, accompanied by Advisor Louis Gérald Gilles, met with a delegation of Cuban specialists and a Haitian specialist as part of the project to build a National Oncology Institute. The Cuban delegation included Hierrezuelo Díaz Marco Ricardo, Laguerre Valery Bony, Cruz Mulens Zaide de la Caridad, and Duany Guerrero Pedro.

This future Institute aims to become a leading center combining treatment, teaching, and psychological support to improve patients' quality of life. This initiative is in line with the Presidential Transitional Council's and the Government's commitment to strengthening national capacity in specialized care, medical research, and training.

A site visit to the future Institute is planned in the coming days. This step aims to ensure a location adapted to the project's needs and respectful of the community environment.

Collaboration with Cuban specialists will enable the integration of a comprehensive approach to care, combining medical expertise and a human dimension. In addition to technical support for the construction of the infrastructure, this cooperation will include ongoing staff training, psychological support for teams, and the implementation of educational programs designed to strengthen national capacities in the fight against cancer.
