iciHaiti - FLASH : Rapid and coordinated response from public works
Following the devastating passage of Category 5 Hurricane Melissa, several departments are facing a major emergency.

In response to this serious situation, the Ministry of Public Works has mobilized all its resources to meet the urgent needs of the affected populations.

The Ministry is focusing on clearing blocked roads, rehabilitating damaged infrastructure (transportation, drinking water, energy), and restoring communication routes to the affected areas.

Its teams, deployed in the field through its departmental directorates and autonomous agencies such as the National Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA), the Maritime and Navigation Service (SEMANAH), the National Telecommunications Council (CONATEL), Electricity of Haiti (EDH), the National Airport Authority (AAN), the National Civil Aviation Office (OFNAC), and the Road Maintenance Fund (FER), in collaboration with its technical and financial partners, are taking the necessary steps to ensure a rapid and coordinated response.

Aware of the importance of swift action, the teams are prioritizing the most affected areas to guarantee safe access for aid and facilitate the transport of essential supplies. The teams are instructed to work closely with other ministries and local authorities to optimize the assistance provided.

The situation remains under close monitoring, and the Ministry assures that all necessary measures will be implemented to mitigate the consequences of this disaster and support the affected communities in the impacted departments.
