iciHaiti - Elections : High-level meeting on security and electoral preparations
On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, the Coordination Group of the Roadmap for Haiti (https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-46151-haiti-politic-the-oas-presents-the-3rd-version-of-the-roadmap-on-haiti.html), with the participation of the United Nations (BINUH), the CARICOM Eminent Persons Group, Haitian authorities, the Organization of American States (OAS), and representatives of the United States, reviewed progress on security, governance, and electoral preparations in Haiti.

The discussions underscored the urgent need for coordinated regional and international action to strengthen security and support the Gang Repression Force (FRG), authorized by the UN Security Council https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-45891-haiti-flash-the-security-council-has-voted-for-the-new-gang-repression-force.html .

“We reaffirmed that restoring security is essential for progress toward legitimate governance and viable elections. The OAS reiterated its readiness to encourage financial and in-kind support for efforts in Haiti, to provide targeted technical assistance for electoral preparations, and to continue cooperation on the national identity card project," said Albert Ramdin, Secretary General of the OAS.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of sustained coordination, information sharing, and extensive consensus-building efforts among Haitian stakeholders and international partners to define a governance pathway once the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) completes its mandate in February 2026, and to lay the groundwork for free and fair elections in 2026.
