iciHaiti - FLASH : Serious threats against people living in the camps
The Haitian National Police (PNH) is urging people living in camps to remain vigilant during the holiday season due to serious threats they face.

On Friday, December 26, 2025, the PNH issued a new and urgent appeal to all people living in camps for displaced persons : "Be vigilant and watch out for anyone you don’t know who is moving around the camps during this holiday period." Information received by the police indicates that several malicious individuals are trying to take advantage of the festivities to sow discord and grief among the population. The PNH is asking everyone to remain vigilant and to alert the police about anyone exhibiting suspicious behavior.

Some advice from the PNH to combat this threat :
• Remain vigilant; do not allow strangers into your living space without reason;

• Strengthen solidarity within your neighborhood; monitor suspicious activities together;

• Report anything suspicious you see to the authorities immediately. Do not take the law into your own hands. Call the police using emergency numbers or use community alert methods such as whistles, shouts, or other means;

• Pay particular attention to children and the most vulnerable to violence that may occur in the camps.

The Haitian National Police (PNH) message is clear : "Any dishonest act committed against people in the camps will not be tolerated by the PNH. This individual will face severe penalties under the law." Our collective safety depends on the vigilance of every citizen and our solidarity. The police have already increased patrols around the camps to prevent such tragedies from occurring. However, the PNH reminds everyone that the first line of defense is vigilance and cooperation from each and every one of us.

"Let’s remain vigilant to protect one another."
