iciHaïti - Cooperation : Les Cayes and Jacmel join the International Association of Francophone Mayors
The Embassy of Haiti in France announces that the cities of Les Cayes and Jacmel have officially joined the International Association of Francophone Mayors (AIMF), following the necessary steps taken with this international association.

In correspondence dated January 29, 2026, Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris and President of the AIMF, confirmed the unanimous membership of the two municipalities. The notifications were sent to Claire Daphné France, President of the Municipal Commission of Les Cayes, and Loudie César, Deputy Mayor of Jacmel.

This membership represents a significant step forward in strengthening decentralized cooperation between Haitian local authorities and their counterparts in the Francophone world. It also reflects the commitment of the local authorities involved to participate in a dynamic of sharing experiences, best practices, and solidarity among Francophone cities.

With the addition of these two new cities, Haiti now has six member cities of the AIMF. Les Cayes and Jacmel have thus joined Port-au-Prince, Cap-Haitien, Carrefour, and Pétion-ville.

This milestone marks the success of the efforts undertaken by the Embassy throughout 2025 to strengthen Haiti's presence within this Francophonie organization. The Haitian Ambassador to France, Louino Volcy, welcomes this progress, which offers new opportunities for development and international outreach for Haitian local authorities.

Through the AIMF, member municipalities will have access to a vast network of local authorities, technical cooperation programs, and institutional exchanges. The AIMF's mission is to build effective solidarity among territories and facilitate networking. It is a key partner in Francophone decentralized cooperation, bringing together 345 capital cities, metropolitan areas, and associations of local authorities from 56 countries.
