iciHaiti - North : Transforming Schools to Make Them Safer

Eric Voli Bi, UNESCO's Resident Representative in Haiti, and his team, in partnership with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS-Haiti) and the Ministry of National Education, recently conducted a crucial monitoring mission, particularly in the municipalities of Cap-Haitien, Grande Rivière, and Plaisance.

The objective ? To transform our schools to make them safer and more sustainable in the face of climate challenges. Concrete changes will include:

• Complete rehabilitation of buildings and classrooms.

• Improved access to water and modernized sanitation facilities.

• Structural reinforcement against earthquakes and climate hazards.

Thanks to funding from the Adaptation Fund, the relevant authorities will ensure that each construction project meets the strictest quality standards.

One priority : to provide a safe learning environment for students and teachers.
