iciHaiti - Cap-Haitien : An individual arrested for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition

As part of the fight against transnational organized crime, the Haitian National Police (PNH), through its Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ), intensified its operations throughout the country during February 2026. A large-scale operation, dubbed Goudougoudou, was launched to dismantle criminal and terrorist networks and strengthen citizen security.

Within this operational context, a targeted intervention was conducted on February 23, 2026, in Cap-Haitien. Law enforcement officers arrested an individual identified as Yves Leroy. The operation mobilized several specialized units, including the Bureau for Combating Drug Trafficking (BLTS), the Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI), and the Brigade for Combating Vehicle Theft (BLVV).

Conducted in the presence of Me Brunvert Jacky Jean, the search of the defendant's residence uncovered several firearms and various suspicious items. Officers seized and sealed the following:

- Two firearms;

- Three magazines;

- Two boxes of ammunition (one 9mm and the other .380).

In addition to the weapons and ammunition, the search also led to the discovery of three bank passbooks, a passport, and three car keys. These items were sealed and will be added to the investigation file, while the Haitian National Police (PNH) continues its investigation to determine the suspect's exact involvement in transnational criminal networks.
