iciHaiti - Hinche : FAES strengthens the supply of the 10 community restaurants in the Centre Dept.

In a context where many families are still experiencing the hardship of displacement, the Government continues its efforts to provide support, assistance, and dignity to the most vulnerable populations. In this regard, Kesner Romilus, Director General of the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES), mobilized his team to bolster the supply of food to the 10 community restaurants operating in the Central Department.

To ensure better coordination of actions on the ground, a strategic meeting was held in the conference room of Hinche City Hall. Participants included Midelove Mirline Adrien, Deputy Mayor of Hinche; the Representative of the Departmental Delegate; Danius Joseph, the FAES Regional Coordinator; Margarette Multy, the Central Departmental Director of Civil Protection; as well as police authorities and representatives of the management committees for internally displaced persons (IDP) sites.

The FAES delegation, accompanied by members of the General Directorate of Civil Protection, visited several sites hosting displaced persons on Saturday, March 14 : the Thomonde National School, the Immaculée Conception and Anténor Firmin schools, the EFACAP Primary School and Pedagogical Support Center, and the Toussaint Louverture National School.

This visit aimed in particular to inspect food storage facilities and ensure the proper functioning of these community restaurants, which currently provide more than 1,000 displaced people with access to a hot meal every day.

For more than six months, FAES has been regularly supporting the ten community restaurants in the municipality of Hinche, despite the current security challenges facing the Central Department.

The chairpersons of the site management committees expressed their deep gratitude to the Prime Minister for his continued attention to their situation, and also commended the local authorities for their commitment to monitoring the initiatives implemented.
