Pythagore Dumas, the new Minister of Youth, Sports, and Civic Action (MJSAC), received a delegation from UN Women, led by its Resident Representative in Haiti, Marie Goretti Nduwayo, assisted by Ms. Guerda Benjamin.

After congratulating the Minister on his recent appointment as head of the MJSAC, Ms. Nduwayo presented her organization's mission : the promotion of youth, gender equality, and the empowerment of all women and girls.

UN Women expressed its readiness to support not only women and girls but also boys and men through what Nduwayo calls "positive masculinity" which involves engaging men in the fight against violence against women.

"To rebuild Haiti, it is imperative to mobilize the youth..." the Minister stated during his discussions with the UN Women representatives. The Minister expressed his support for the creation of "Youth Space," an initiative designed to allow young people to reflect on and discuss the country's future.

UN Women, committed to promoting women's economic empowerment, stated its intention to support them by providing training programs lasting six to eight weeks, a project already underway in the South, Nippes, and Grand'Anse departments.
