Agronomist Marcelin Aubourg, the new Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR), launched the spring agricultural campaign in the South and Grande Anse departments, in collaboration with the Resilient Agriculture for Food Security Project (PARSA). This initiative reflects the Government's firm commitment to revitalizing national agricultural production and addressing the food crisis affecting the country. It demonstrates the authorities' dedication to supporting farmers and promoting sustainable agricultural development. In Torbeck, the Minister visited the M8 variety rice seed storage facilities, where seeds are destined for distribution to farmers. He also observed germination tests conducted by technicians from the Ministry's National Seed Service, in preparation for the 2026 spring planting season. He also visited the commune of Anglais, where several thousand young coconut palm seedlings were distributed to farmers as part of initiatives to boost production and strengthen the resilience of agricultural holdings. The Minister reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with farmers to identify their challenges and provide concrete solutions, particularly through the strengthening of strategic agricultural sectors. He also announced the cultivation of 1,620 hectares of land dedicated to rice in the South Department, accompanied by agricultural incentives to support farmers. This initiative marks the beginning of a series of interventions across the country aimed at revitalizing the agricultural sector and strengthening food security, in accordance with the Government's roadmap.
