MCI : Essay Competition, registration open

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI) has launched the 3rd edition of the Essay Competition on Industrial Property. This essay competition aims to encourage university students across the country to explore the role of industrial property rights in promoting innovation and creativity. A prize will be awarded to the author of the best essay on a topic related to industrial property.

Eligibility Requirements :

The competition is open to students regularly enrolled in the following programs :

Law; Business Administration; Political Science and International Relations.

Applicants must :

• Have completed at least two (2) years of university studies;

• Not have graduated from university more than three (3) years prior;

• Be no more than thirty (30) years old.

A document attesting to student or applicant status must be included with the application.

Submission Guidelines :

Essays must meet the following requirements :

Length :

Minimum three pages and maximum five pages;

Format :

Double-spaced, Times New Roman font, size 12;

File Format :

Word or PDF;

File Name :

CONCOURS_MCI-PI_LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME;

Text Type :

Original and unpublished.

References must be properly cited according to accepted legal standards.

Submission Deadline : April 10, 2026. Any submission received after this date will be automatically rejected.

Evaluation Criteria :

Essays will be evaluated according to the following criteria :

• Originality of the topic and approach;

• Theoretical or practical value;

• Relevance and strength of the arguments presented;

• Coherence and structure of the text (introduction, body, conclusion);

• Writing quality (clarity, fluency, precision);

• Creativity and strong convictions.
