208th anniversary of the death of Alexandre Pétion

On Friday, March 27, in anticipation of the 208th anniversary of the death of Alexandre Pétion, Haiti's second president (March 29, 1818), the Haitian Ambassador to Argentina, Olga Médor Ducasse, organized a tribute to Alexandre Pétion, one of the founding fathers of the Haitian nation, renowned throughout Latin America for his contribution to the liberation of several countries in the region.

During this ceremony, numerous high-ranking figures and representatives from various institutions, including ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps, members of parliament, representatives of the Argentine armed forces, local authorities, friends, and members of the Haitian community, participated in the event.

Ambassador Ducasse gave a historical overview of Pétion's actions, which earned him not only the title of Father of Pan-Americanism but also the esteem in which he is held in Latin American countries, particularly in Argentina, where his name and bust appear in several towns and squares throughout the country.

She reiterated her hope that these historical ties could lead to concrete actions toward greater solidarity and cooperation, which the Haitian people so desperately need today.
