Dominican Rep. exports to Haiti increase by 13.4% 31/03/2026 09:32:57
According to the monthly trade report between the Dominican Republic and Haiti, published by the General Directorate of Customs (DGA), total exports to Haiti reached US$205.7 million in the first quarter of 2026, a 13.4% increase compared to the same period in 2025. This growth is primarily due to the performance of the domestic regime (manufactured goods in the Dominican Republic), which saw a 25.8% increase, while exports from free trade zones declined by 21.8%. According to the DGA, 74.2% of exports fall under the domestic regime, 17.4% come from free trade zones, 5.6% under the temporary admission regime, and the remaining 2.7% under the re-export regime. The report specifies that exports under the free trade zone regime are concentrated on 10 products. Among the para-main products are forged, rolled, or extruded non-alloy iron or steel bars (74.3%), followed by hydraulic cement, including colored cement (48.6%), and knitted T-shirts and undershirts (34.5%). On the domestic market, 71.9% of exports were concentrated on 10 products, including non-alloy iron or steel bars (17.5%), hydraulic cement (11.4%), and knitted T-shirts and undershirts (8.1%). Furthermore, the report indicates that total imports from Haiti during the same period amounted to only US$30 million, a significant decrease of 98.1% compared to the same period in 2025. S/ iciHaiti
