International Day of Sport, a powerful lever for Haiti

Every April 6, the world celebrates the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, a day that reminds us that sport transcends mere competition to become a powerful tool for education, health, and social cohesion.

This international initiative highlights sport's ability to unite people, break down social barriers, and promote universal values such as tolerance, respect, and inclusion. In a world marked by inequalities and tensions, sport emerges as a common language capable of bringing communities closer together and creating opportunities, particularly for young people.

In Haiti, this Day holds special significance for Pythagore Dumas, Minister of Youth, Sports, and Civic Action (MJSAC), whose work is focused on strengthening the sports sector. In line with the Prime Minister's vision, one of the Minister's key objectives is to contribute to making sport a pillar of human development by creating opportunities for young people and showcasing Haitian talent.

This Day should not be seen as a mere symbolic celebration. It is a call to action for public decision-makers, institutions, and civil society actors.

"Together, let's work to put sport at the service of peace, national unity, and sustainable development."
