The Minister of Defence at the General Headquarters of the FAd’H

On Friday, April 10, 2026, Mario Andrésol, Minister of Defense, visited the General Headquarters of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd’H) as part of the planning for the imminent deployment of an army contingent tasked with implementing the "Consolidation of Reclaimed Territories" strategy.

This strategy, designed to secure the gradual return of displaced persons, strengthen community resilience to the risks of urban and community violence, and counter the harassment tactics of armed gangs against law enforcement, will be progressively extended to all areas currently being reclaimed.

This visit also demonstrates the Haitian government’s commitment to supporting the military engaged in the fight against gangs. During his visit, the Minister delivered a message of both firmness and responsibility to the troops, emphasizing the highly strategic nature of their mission in service to the nation.

The Minister also announced a series of measures aimed at improving the living and working conditions of military personnel. Among these is an increase in the amount allocated to their debit cards. This measure, which will initially target personnel in units deployed in the field, will be gradually extended to all members of the Armed Forces of Haiti.
