The Minister of the Environment engages in discussions with the World Bank

In preparation for the high-level strategic orientation workshop with Technical and Financial Partners (TFPs), to be held on April 16 and 17 at the Karibe Hotel in Pétion-Ville, Valéry Fils-Aimé, Minister of the Environment, held a working meeting with Anne-Lucie Lefebvre, World Bank Country Manager for Haiti, and her team (via videoconference).

This meeting is part of an ongoing strategic dialogue aimed at strengthening the alignment of partner interventions with the national priorities defined by the Government.

During the discussions, Minister Fils-Aimé reiterated his Ministry's priorities, based on a pragmatic approach focused on waste management, ecosystem restoration, sustainable management of natural resources, community mobilization, climate finance, and international cooperation. He particularly emphasized the role of these interventions in improving the living conditions of the population, creating jobs, and strengthening social stability.

The World Bank Representative stressed that the institution gives priority to environmental issues, given their cross-cutting nature and their direct impact on the resilience of territories, the living conditions of populations, and sustainable development.

The discussions paved the way for avenues of collaboration, including the national program "Konbit Haiti Zero Waste" the Support Program for Citizen Environmental Initiatives (PAIEC), and the implementation of a national environmental education and awareness campaign.
