PM/UN : Strategic discussions on security issues

On Wednesday, April 15, 2026, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé received Gilles Michaud, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Security and Safety, for a high-level meeting focused on critical national security issues.

Discussions centered primarily on the security situation in Haiti, marked by the proliferation of armed gangs and terrorism, as well as on measures to be strengthened for a coordinated and effective response. Particular attention was paid to the role and deployment of the Gang Repression Force (FRG), which is expected to intensify its operations throughout the country in the near future.

The Prime Minister firmly reaffirmed the Government's commitment to mobilizing all necessary resources to combat armed groups, restore state authority, and guarantee the safety of citizens. He also emphasized the urgent need to regain control of strategic roads currently occupied by bandits, a crucial condition for the revitalization of the country's economic and social activities.

He also stressed the need to create a secure environment conducive to holding free, credible, and inclusive elections as soon as possible, in accordance with the aspirations of the people.

The Prime Minister welcomed the commitment and support of the United Nations in stabilization efforts, while calling for strengthened international cooperation to sustainably support the actions undertaken by national authorities.
