Cooperative project for disabled people in Haiti

In order to improve the living conditions of disabled people, the Office of the Secretary of State (Génard Joseph) for the Integration of Disabled People (BSEIPH) is continuing its efforts to help this sector establish a cooperative promoting their financial empowerment.

It is with this in mind that the second meeting took place on April 21 between representatives of the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH), the Office of Management and Human Resources (OMRH) and the National Council of Cooperatives (CNC), Executives of BSEIPH, as well as several representatives of organizations of disabled people and organizations of deaf people.

The Secretary of State presented the context of the situation of people with disabilities and underlined, in his intervention, the frustration felt by them in the face of the unkept promises of certain institutions. He pleads for this project to be solidly structured in order to meet the specific needs of this category of people.

For his part, Barreau Franck Camille, the representative of the CNC, presented the challenges of financial inclusion taking into account the most vulnerable people.

Blaise Darlène, the representative of the OMRH, insisted on the need to put in place a solid structure to prevent corruption, while identifying concrete avenues for carrying out this project.

As for Jocelin Jean Baptiste, representative of the BRH, he considered that a guarantee fund would be essential to ensure the sustainability of this economic inclusion project.
