North : Seizure of 1,376 kilos of marijuana in Haitian waters 05/05/2026 08:25:33
Sunday May 3rd, 2026, the Haitian National Police (PNH), via its Drug Trafficking Brigade (BLTS/North) and the Haitian Coast Guard, received a large quantity of drugs seized in Haitian waters. It was the US Coast Guard that carried out the operation, during which they intercepted a suspicious boat in the maritime zone close to Haitian territory, more precisely at Môle Saint-Nicolas. During this intervention, a Jamaican citizen Aldane Anderson, alias "Ali", born January 26, 2001, was arrested in possession of several packets of dry grass resembling marijuana. In total, 66 bags containing several packets of marijuana, carefully wrapped in plastic, were seized. After preliminary tests, the substances were confirmed positive for marijuana, with a total weight reaching 1.376 kilograms. The official handing over of the drugs and the trafficker involved took place in the presence of the Justice of the Peace of Cap-Haitien, Me Samuel Philippaux, and his clerk, as well as officials of the American Coast Guard and the Haitian Coast Guard of the North. All the evidence as well as the trafficker are already in the hands of BLTS North for legal action. The PNH reaffirms its commitment to combating drug trafficking throughout the national territory and welcomes the effective collaboration with the American Coast Guard. IH/ iciHaiti
