Construction launch for the new Consulate General of Haiti in Miami

On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, the Haitian government officially launched the construction of the new premises for the Consulate General of Haiti in Miami at a ceremony held at the Kovens Conference Center. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, Foreign Minister Raina Forbin, Consul General of Haiti in Miami Yverick Delerme Cyril, and numerous diplomatic, community, and religious leaders, as well as members of the Haitian diaspora.

This project symbolizes the Haitian government's commitment to modernizing its consular services and strengthening its ties with the Haitian diaspora, which is particularly present and active in South Florida.

This ambitious project, which will replace the outdated building in Brickell with a modern center, is estimated at over US$6 million and is funded by the Haitian Treasury. The project is being overseen by Haitian architect Rodney Leon.

The future building will include spaces dedicated to consular services, Haitian culture, official receptions, and administrative activities. It will reflect a diplomacy that is closer to the citizens, more accessible, and focused on efficiency.

In their respective remarks, the authorities emphasized the strategic importance of the diaspora in national development and the Government's commitment to building a more modern, credible state that better serves Haitians living abroad.

The theme "Past. Present. Future," chosen for this initiative, reflects the desire to honor forty years of service from the Consulate while preparing a future that meets the aspirations of the Haitian community in Miami.

"This new Consulate General of Haiti in Miami represents much more than a building. It symbolizes our commitment to building a state that is closer to its citizens, more respectful of its diaspora, and resolutely focused on the future," declared Prime Minister Fils-Aimé.
