Brazil : MJSAC and Viva Rio strengthen their cooperation

On Thursday, May 7, 2026, Pythagore Dumas, Minister of Youth and Sports (MJSAC), held an important working session with Antonio Gonzalez, Head of Mission for Viva Rio Haiti, to strengthen Haitian-Brazilian cooperation in youth and sports.

Discussions focused primarily on the "Vision Sport 2030" and "Metye m se zam pam" programs, two initiatives considered priorities for sports development and youth mentoring.

The "Vision Sport 2030" project aims to ensure the sustainable structuring of Haitian sports, the development of inter-school championships, and the identification and training of young talent.

The "Metye m se zam pam" program seeks to offer concrete alternatives to young people from vulnerable areas through vocational training and socio-economic integration.

The meeting also addressed several key issues, including the preparation of the Haitian U-17 national team for the World Cup, which will take place in Qatar from November 19 to December 13, 2026; the creation of a talent development center at the Perle Noire Sports Center; and the strengthening of sports infrastructure to meet FIFA standards.

Viva Rio also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the development of Haitian women's football, particularly in anticipation of the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil.

Furthermore, discussions emphasized the need to use sport as a tool for violence prevention and social cohesion in disadvantaged neighborhoods. Both parties agreed to continue technical and diplomatic efforts to solidify a lasting cooperation agreement between Haiti and Brazil in the fields of sport and youth.
