Niagara Falls : 223rd anniversary of the Haitian flag 17/05/2026 09:46:36
On Friday, May 15, in anticipation of the 223rd anniversary of the Haitian flag, our bicolor was honored in the city of Niagara Falls. The day was marked by a symbolic flag-raising ceremony at Rosberg Family Park, in the presence of Jim Diodati, Mayor of Niagara Falls, Françoise Suzan, Chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of Haiti in Canada, and several Haitian citizens. In the evening, the majestic Niagara Falls was illuminated in blue and red for 15 minutes, offering a moment filled with national pride and emotion. On behalf of the Haitian government and people, Françoise Suzan took the opportunity to warmly thank Mayor Jim Diodati for welcoming the Embassy delegation, as well as the Haitian citizens who had traveled to participate in this patriotic celebration. As a reminder, since 2021, the City of Niagara Falls has officially proclaimed May 18th "Haiti Day" a testament to the bonds of friendship between Canada and Haiti. Niagara Falls will be illuminated once again in the colours of Haiti Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 10:00 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. Link to watch the event live : https://www.earthcam.com/canada/niagarafalls/ IH/ iciHaiti
