Cap-Haitien : Launch of the RN3 Rehabilitation Project

On Friday, May 15, in Cap-Haitien, as part of the Resilient Connectivity and Accessibility of Urban Transport Project (RUTAP), the official presentation of the rehabilitation of the section of National Route 3 (RN3) linking the SOS Intersection to the Cap-Haïtien International Airport Intersection took place.

The presentation was held in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Public Works, the Central Implementation Unit, the World Bank, the Ministry of Tourism, as well as several local authorities and stakeholders involved in the urban development of Cap-Haïtien.

This rehabilitation project, which concerns a strategic 2.4-kilometer road linking the SOS Intersection to the Airport Intersection, aims to sustainably improve traffic flow and mobility conditions in this heavily trafficked area of the city.

The planned works include the construction of a four-lane road, roundabouts, drainage system improvements, sidewalk installation, and enhanced road signage.

The Cap-Haitien Municipal Administration thanked the central government, through the Ministry of Public Works and the Central Implementation Unit, as well as the World Bank, for their support in carrying out this project.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing the necessary steps to ensure that other major infrastructure projects can be implemented in the city, particularly in the areas of urban mobility, drainage, land-use planning, and the environment.

Finally, the municipal authorities urge the public to cooperate during the construction period by respecting the traffic patterns and safety measures that will be put in place to facilitate the smooth execution of the project for the benefit of all.

Note that work on this project has already begun.
