A delegation from Swiss Cooperation in South, Haiti 18/05/2026 10:22:59
A delegation from Swiss Cooperation in Haiti, led by Laura Bott, Head of the Latin America and Caribbean Section of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, toured southern Haiti to observe firsthand the tangible impact of Swiss-supported projects benefiting Haitian communities. In Belle-Dent, in the municipality of Port-Salut, the delegation visited the drinking water supply system rehabilitated as part of the "Managing SOUTH" project. This infrastructure now provides nearly 300 families, as well as several surrounding communities, with access to quality drinking water. The visit also included an inspection of the watershed protection structures built to sustainably preserve the springs and strengthen the area's environmental resilience. The delegation also met with the various management committees established and with residents, who expressed their satisfaction with the changes the project has brought to their daily lives. In Les Anglais, the visit focused on a development project aimed at protecting families living under the constant threat of river flooding. Thanks to the mayor's advocacy and the support of Swiss Cooperation, work is underway to secure the area and allow residents to regain peace of mind. IH/ iciHaiti
