Culture : «Standing, Even in a Wheelchair» 20/05/2026 09:55:03
On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, Théâtre Toupatou Productions officially launched the preparatory activities for the project "Support for Artistic Creation and the Resumption of Cultural Events in the Face of the Security Crisis" supported by the UNESCO Emergency Fund for Cultural Heritage. Selected during the call for cultural projects for the quality and relevance of its proposal, this program offers young Haitians living with disabilities a space for expression, creation, and the promotion of their talents. This year's International Disability and Culture Fortnight, themed "Standing, Even in a Wheelchair" carries a message of resilience, dignity, inclusion, and hope. The workshops and artistic activities undertaken as part of this initiative will continue until the festival scheduled for next October. They aim to strengthen the creative capacities of the young participants and promote their full participation in Haitian cultural life. By supporting this project, UNESCO reaffirms its commitment to an inclusive and accessible culture for all, and recognizes the creativity of young people as a driving force for social cohesion, peace, and sustainable development in Haiti.
