Environment Fridays : Raising awareness among young people about environmental issues

On Friday, May 29, 2026, in Pétion-ville, the West Departmental Directorate of the Ministry of the Environment organized another edition of "Environment Fridays" aimed at raising awareness among young people about environmental issues and promoting a culture of ecological responsibility.

This event brought together students from Collège Dominique Savio, Lycée Horacius Laventure, Collège Saint-Pierre de Pétion-ville, and Lycée Benoît Batraville for educational discussions focusing on topics such as the protection of natural resources, waste management, the fight against pollution, and the role of citizens in environmental preservation.

Through presentations, interactive discussions, and practical exercises, participants were encouraged to reflect on everyday actions that can contribute to protecting their environment and improving their living conditions.

David Cossy, the West Departmental Director of the Ministry, commended the active participation of students and teachers, while reaffirming the Ministry's commitment to strengthening environmental education in schools and communities. He also thanked the partner schools for their collaboration in making this activity a success.

This initiative aligns with the vision of Valéry Fils-Aimé, Minister of the Environment, to make environmental education and awareness a cornerstone of behavioral change and the development of responsible environmental citizenship in Haiti.
