New measures on waste management and car traffic in Cap-Haitien

On Friday, May 29, 2026, during a press conference, Michel Saint-Croix, the new President (Mayor) of the Cap-Haitien Municipal Commission, accompanied by his two deputies, presented a series of new measures aimed at improving waste management and traffic flow in the city.

Among the decisions, municipal authorities announced that starting Monday, June 1st, the City Hall will no longer collect garbage illegally; it will now be collected directly in bags from residents' homes.

Furthermore, authorities announced the implementation of a new traffic pattern : vehicles coming from the area on the other side of the bridge will have to use the Rue 5 bridge to enter the city, while vehicles leaving the city will have to use the Samari intersection to reach the other side of the bridge.

These measures are part of ongoing efforts to improve urban mobility, reduce traffic congestion, strengthen public safety, and foster a better environment for economic activity.
