As part of the Latin American and Caribbean Weeks celebrations in France, organized around the theme "Another Path : The Relationship Between Latin America, the Caribbean, and France, or the Challenge of Balance and Respect for Nations" the prestigious French Senate award was bestowed this year upon Haitian football star Melchie Daëlle Dumornay, also known as "Corventina". On the recommendation of the Haitian Ambassador to France, Louino Volcy, the young Haitian football player received the Medal of Honor and an official certificate from the President of the Senate, Mr. Gérard Larcher. This distinction recognizes the exceptional achievements of a remarkably distinguished career. A leading figure on the Haitian national team and star striker for Olympique Lyonnais in France, Melchie Daëlle Dumornay is coming off a masterful season, having just been named best player in the French Arkema Première Ligue and winner of the prestigious Union Nationale des Footballeurs Professionnels (UNFP) Player of the Season award, as well as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the European season from the renowned British newspaper, The Athletic. Beyond her numerous individual and team trophies, including the 2026 French Championship, the Haitian Senate and Embassy wished to honor an athlete who embodies excellence, perseverance, and pushing beyond her limits. Through her international influence, she stands as an inspiring role model for Haitian youth and actively contributes to strengthening the bonds of friendship and cultural and sporting cooperation between Haiti and France.
