Call for poetic texts, Nègès mawon Feminist Festival

Haiti's feminist organization Nègès Mawon presents a festival rooted in a feminist perspective that blends creativity and activism. How to speak with an engaged, sensitive, direct, and unvarnished language.

For the 10th anniversary of the Nègès Mawon Feminist Festival, we have chosen the theme Batay nou makònen (Let's Fight) at the intersection of struggles, in order to reflect on women's rights in their intersectional and collective dimensions.

The Festival positions itself as a necessary space, a place to name, understand, and denounce the systemic violence suffered by women, people with disabilities, the LGBTQIA+ community, rural women, and young people from working-class neighborhoods, while also offering creative and solidarity-based alternatives.

This edition highlights interconnected realities and offers a comprehensive feminist perspective where each form of oppression connects with the others. In a country where successive crises weaken social movements, the Festival represents a space where we can still imagine, dream, and build.

In this spirit, you who write and consider yourselves vulnerable, seeking a space to express the impact of this violence on you, submit a poem. Seize this opportunity to express what you feel, what you experience, what you think, what you dream, what weighs on your soul. We are looking for committed and sensitive poems that place love and tolerance at their core.

The selected poems will be part of the festival's closing event.

• Language : Creole or French.

• Word count : not to exceed 1,000 words.

• Deadline : June 26, 2026

• Submission address : festivalfeministe@negesmawon.org / info@negesmawon.org
