OFATMA honors the commitment of its employees

As the approach of the World Public Service Day (June 23), the Office of Occupational Accident, Illness, and Maternity Insurance (OFATMA) organized a day of reflection and recognition on June 19, 2026, under the theme "Proud to Serve : Let's Build the Public Service of Tomorrow Today".

This event brought together the institution's employees in a spirit of sharing and celebrating public service. Discussions focused on the fundamental values underpinning public action, as well as the rights, duties, and responsibilities of public servants in the performance of their duties.

The day began with an address by Abel Descollines, Chief of Staff to the Director General of OFATMA, who paid a moving tribute to Ms. Sherley Séguy, an employee of the institution who passed away on June 18, 2026. He also emphasized the significance of this day, established by the United Nations to recognize the essential role of public servants in the economic, social, and institutional development of nations.

A panel discussion with three public service executives then explored several themes related to public management, including the rights of public servants, administrative ethics, and the legal foundations of the Haitian civil service. The discussions were moderated by Mr. Phylippe J. Volmar, Ms. Rincher Dormetus, and Sam Metellus, who shared their experiences and reflections on the current challenges facing public administration. The speakers particularly stressed the principles of integrity, neutrality, accountability, and social protection that should guide the actions of public servants.

The highlight of this event was Jose Cherenfant, from the Promotion and Communication Department, being named Employee of the Year, an award recognizing his dedication, sense of duty, and remarkable contribution to OFATMA's success. Visibly moved, the recipient dedicated this honor to all his colleagues, emphasizing that this recognition is above all the result of a collective effort and a spirit of collaboration in service of the institution's mission.
