Saturday June 27, 2026, following the complaint filed with the regional prosecutor's office of the Central-North metropolitan area by Frank Sauerbaum Director of the National Migration Service (SERMIG) in Chile, with the aim of clarifying possible child trafficking in the context of charter flights from Haiti arriving in Chile between January and October 2025 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-47761-haiti-chile-complaint-filed-for-child-trafficking-from-haiti.html Raina Forbin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs received a delegation from the Government of Chile led by the Special Envoy, Marco Aguayo Tamsec, the Ambassador of Chile to Honduras, accompanied by Manuel Rioseco, Ambassador of Chile accredited to Haiti.

On this occasion, Marco Aguayo Tamsec presented to the Haitian authorities the conclusions of the verifications carried out following the information recently relayed concerning Haitian minors in Chile. He confirmed that all of the children concerned have been located, that they are in school and that they are receiving appropriate monitoring. He also reaffirmed the desire of the Chilean Government to strengthen cooperation with the Haitian authorities in order to consolidate child protection mechanisms and improve the exchange of information between the two countries.

Minister Raina Forbin welcomed the transparency approach of the Chilean Government as well as its initiative to come and present in person to the Haitian authorities the official information relating to this situation.

She, for her part, reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of Haiti to continue strengthening protection mechanisms for its nationals, to modernize consular services and to support efforts aimed at facilitating the regularization of Haitians living in Chile.
