Belle-Anse : Municipal Maritime Fishing Center equipped with a solar cold storage room

As part of the Global Climate Change Alliance Plus (GCCA+) program, the Belle-Anse Municipal Maritime Fishing Center (CCPM) in Haiti, has been completely renovated and equipped with a 35 m³ cold storage facility powered by a modern solar system comprising 31.5 kWp of photovoltaic panels, 150 kWh of lithium batteries, and a 24 kW inverter.

This infrastructure will sustainably improve the preservation of fishery products, reduce post-harvest losses, and increase fishermen's incomes, while also fostering the development of the blue economy in the municipality.

To ensure the sustainable management of this equipment, a social enterprise, INKAPEB Pwason Lakay, bringing together the ten fishermen's associations of Belle-Anse, has been created and registered with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Its members also received training in financial management and now have a business plan and a procedures manual to ensure the efficient and transparent operation of the infrastructure.

This achievement demonstrates that the energy transition can also be a driver of economic development and create opportunities for coastal communities.
