iciHaïti - Barahona and Pedernales : The Dominican army reinforces its infrastructure at the border 13/07/2026 09:25:32
The Dominican Army is strengthening its infrastructure on the border with Haiti and reopening two command posts in Barahona and Pedernales after reconstruction and modernization work, in order to reinforce its institutional presence and operational capabilities in the border region. Major General Jorge Iván Camino Pérez, Commander-in-Chief of the Dominican Army, recently conducted an inspection visit to units of the 5th Infantry Brigade deployed in the provinces of Barahona and Pedernales, where he reopened two rehabilitated and modernized border command posts. The first post officially reopened is the Captain Julio César Inoa Nina Post, located on the southern coast of the Dominican Republic, in the municipality of Enriquillo, in the province of Barahona, which has undergone a complete renovation. Subsequently, the Commander of the Dominican Army reopened the La Algodonera detachment, located in the Juancho municipal district of Oviedo, Pedernales province. This post underwent a complete reconstruction and modernization process. The work included the rehabilitation of living quarters, the kitchen, the dining room, and bathrooms; the modernization of electrical and plumbing systems; improvements to exterior infrastructure; the installation of new furniture and equipment; and measures to optimize the security, functionality, and habitability of the detachment.
