Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé learned with deep emotion of the passing of Mrs. Monique Souvenir, affectionately known as "Fanny" on the morning of July 21 in Florida at the age of 85, surrounded by her loving family.

"Her passing plunges the world of culture and communication into profound sorrow. For an entire generation, especially those of the 1980s, Fanny was not just an artist : she was a familiar face, a reassuring voice, a luminous presence. A star of radio and television, an actress, and a muse of advertising, she won the hearts of Haitians through her exceptional talent, natural charisma, and elegance, and inscribed her name among the great figures of our cultural heritage.

Today, Haiti loses much more than a public figure. It loses a woman of heart, a generous soul whose life inspired, united, and illuminated our cultural identity. Her work and her memory will continue to inhabit our collective memory and transmit to future generations a taste for excellence, creativity, and self-improvement.

In this painful circumstance, the Prime Minister, on behalf of the Government of the Republic and in his own name, bows with profound respect before the memory of Madame Monique Souvenir. He extends to her family, loved ones, and the wider community of arts, media, and culture, his deepest condolences and solidarity.

Farewell, Fanny. A voice has been silenced, a face has vanished, but an eternal soul remains in the heart of Haiti.

"Fanny" was one of the very first radio stars in Haiti, a radio host, notably of the educational health program Radio Doktè and Télé Doktè. Beyond her broadcasts, she was a founding voice and an essential figure in the radio, television, and advertising landscape, and also acted in films, notably playing the role of Fani in the classic "La peur d’aimer".
