Grand'Anse : The MCFDF strengthens the capacities of the staff of the Women's Center

Following the inauguration of the Women's Center in Grande Anse (https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-47904-grand-anse-haiti-inauguration-of-the-women-s-center.html), the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Women's Rights (MCFDF), under the leadership of Minister Pedrica Saint Jean, organized a three-day training session in late July 2026 for the staff of the Women's Center in Jérémie.

Held at the Jérémie Administrative Complex, this activity aimed to strengthen the capacity of the staff who support the women and girls benefiting from the Women's Center's services, while also fostering a better understanding of the institutional framework and the Ministry's intervention mechanisms.

Over the course of these three days of training, several key themes were addressed: Hémanex Gonzague Désir, Coordinator of the Minister's Office, presented the mission and mandate of the Ministry of Women's Rights and Family Affairs (MCFDF), highlighting the institution's responsibilities in promoting women's rights and supporting public policies that foster gender equality.

Participants also deepened their understanding of fundamental gender concepts through a presentation by Ms. Viona Guerrier, Director of the Gender Analysis Department, as well as on gender-based violence through a presentation by Ms. Marie Carline Laurenceau.

Particular attention was also paid to mechanisms for supporting victims of violence. To this end, sessions focusing on the fundamental principles of receiving women victims of violence, as well as the various stages of providing appropriate support, enabled participants to strengthen their skills in listening, providing support, and referring beneficiaries.

The various presentations led to enriching exchanges between the participants and the speakers, fostering the sharing of experiences, the clarification of certain concepts, and the strengthening of the knowledge necessary for carrying out their duties.

The workshop concluded with remarks by Ms. Marie Kerling Gaspard Saint-Juste, Departmental Director of the Ministry in Grande Anse, who congratulated the participants on their diligence throughout the training and reaffirmed the importance of their role in supporting women and girls in the department.
