Elections : More than half of the 1,400 registration centers are already operational

The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) is continuing the process of opening voter registration and polling centers (CIVs) throughout the country. Currently, the majority of CIVs are operational in all departments. In the South Department, all twenty municipalities now have registration centers, allowing citizens who meet the requirements stipulated by the Electoral Decree to register to vote.

On Tuesday, August 4th, 2026, during a press conference for journalists in Les Cayes, Councilor Yves Marie Edouard invited citizens to go to the registration and polling center closest to their home or the one of their choice, bringing their National Identification Card, to register.

"Between July 20 and August 3rd, 2026, approximately 60,000 voters have already registered to vote. The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) plans to register between 3 and 4 million voters before October 13, the deadline for voter registration," stated Jacques Desrosiers, President of the CEP, specifying that more than half of the 1,400 registration and polling centers are currently operational. The CEP President also announced the opening, by the end of this week, of 15 new centers in Pétion-ville, 9 in Delmas, and one in Tabarre. He added that approximately ten more centers will be opened in the 1st and 2nd districts of Port-au-Prince to continue the voter registration process.
