Haiti's Tourism Ministry prepares its priorities for the 2026-2027 fiscal year

Last week, Stéphanie Smith, the Minister of Tourism, held a Management Council meeting bringing together the heads of departmental and central directorates, coordinators, and Unit Managers. Chaired by the Director General, Ms. Sinedie Saintil Dupuy, assisted by the Chief of Staff, Yvens Alexis, and the Director of Human Resources, Godson Lubrun, this meeting was part of an ongoing process of monitoring, evaluating, and strengthening the Ministry's institutional actions.

With the 2025-2026 fiscal year drawing to a close and the 2026-2027 budget being prepared, the discussions provided an opportunity to examine the operational realities of the Ministry's various entities, identify key challenges, and establish common priorities. Discussions focused in particular on strengthening institutional capacities, improving working conditions, staff training, modernizing digital tools, and more efficient resource management.

The Council also paid particular attention to promoting tourist sites and heritage, modernizing the sector's legal framework, developing tourism infrastructure, and strengthening visitor safety, notably through expanding the PoliTOUR presence to currently unserved departments.

Through this Board meeting, the Ministry of Tourism reaffirms its commitment to consolidating a more efficient, coordinated, and service-oriented institution focused on serving citizens and stakeholders in the sector, with the aim of contributing to sustainable development and the revitalization of tourism in Haiti.
