Launch of a vaccination campaign (West dept.)

The Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP), in partnership with the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), officially launched a vaccination campaign this week in ten communes of the West Department.

For this campaign, several vaccination officers from the West Department Health Directorate (DSO), as well as nurses and other healthcare professionals, are deployed to provide free vaccinations to targeted children.

This campaign aims to reduce morbidity and mortality related to measles-rubella, polio, and diphtheria in children under five years of age, particularly those affected by the security and humanitarian crisis.

Targeted Communes :

1- Port-au-Prince;

2- Carrefour;

3- Gressier;

4- Kenscoff;

5- Delmas;

6- Pétion-Ville;

7- Tabarre;

8- Cité Soleil;

9- Cabaret;

10- Croix-des-Bouquets.

Children aged 0 to 59 months are the target population for this campaign. They will receive vaccines against polio (OPV) and measles-rubella (MR), as well as other vaccines included in routine immunizations.

The service package also includes the administration of vitamin A and albendazole, as well as nutritional screening.

The West Health Directorate encourages parents and guardians of eligible children to take advantage of this campaign to have their children vaccinated free of charge. Vaccinations will be suspended on Friday, August 14. They will resume on Monday, August 17 and Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
