Taiwan : Training on okra production techniques in Haiti
The Taiwan Technical Mission in Haiti organized a training session on okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) production techniques in the south of the country for 30 local farmers. The training provided an opportunity to learn, exchange experiences, and share best practices. Haitian farmers often use relatively extensive cultivation practices and limited irrigation. This can lead to a shorter harvest period and reduced okra yields. During the training, the Taiwan Technical Mission emphasized an important principle: okra is drought-tolerant, but "drought-tolerant" does not mean "not needing water". A sufficient and consistent water supply allows plants to maintain good growth, extend the harvest period, and stabilize yields. Sometimes, the key to a good harvest lies not only in choosing the right seeds but also in adopting sound knowledge and good cultivation practices. IH/ iciHaiti
