Kenscoff Massacre : 2,647 people have fled the area
According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the massacre in the commune of Kenscoff (August 23-25, 2026), which claimed more than 60 victims (https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-48290-haiti-flash-new-massacre-in-kenskoff-at-least-60-victims.html), primarily in the localities of Centre-Ville, Vilier, Tête de l’Eau, and Morne Jean Jacques, located in the 3rd communal section of Sourcailles, has displaced 2,647 people (702 households). These incidents resulted in the burning of numerous homes, kidnappings, and loss of life, including among displaced people who had been living in an improvised shelter after fleeing their homes several months earlier due to similar violence. Other displaced people residing at this site and a neighboring one were forced to flee their places of refuge again, while residents of the affected area also fled to other locations in search of safety. The majority of displaced people (77%) found refuge with host families in the neighboring municipality of Pétion-Vvÿille, while the remaining 23% settled in three shelters, one of which existed before the violence and two of which were created following these incidents.
