On Friday, August 28, 2026, Raina Forbin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, hosted a reception in honor of the French Ambassador to Haiti, Antoine Michon, who had just completed his two-year diplomatic mission in the country.

After a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the violence in Kenscoff, the Prime Minister reiterated that restoring security and consolidating stability remain central to the Government's actions. He paid tribute to Ambassador Michon for his commitment to Haiti and his contribution to strengthening relations between the two countries. He specifically commended France's support for the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H), as well as its assistance in the areas of justice, education, and the training of Haitian youth. Fils-Aimé reaffirmed the importance of relations between Haiti and France and the need to continue cooperation focused on national priorities, including security, institutional strengthening, education, agriculture, and development.

Minister Forbin, for her part, recalled the deep and unique historical relationship between Haiti and France. She commended Ambassador Michon for his presence, attentiveness, and close collaboration during his mission, as well as his commitment to security, the fight against organized crime, the establishment of specialized judicial centers, the training of magistrates, academic and cultural cooperation, and the preservation of Haitian heritage.

In his words of thanks, Ambassador Antoine Michon reaffirmed France's commitment to standing with Haiti and commended the Government's efforts to restore security and democratic order. The Ambassador also expressed his admiration for the Haitian people, particularly for their resilience in the face of adversity, their creativity, and their commitment to building a better future.
